... Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe. Psalm 150:4
The Tallinn United Methodist Church's Organ Foundation began in 1999 when the first donations for our new organ were received. The Board of the Foundation consists of Urve Aulis (chairman), Toomas Pajusoo (pastor), Ene-Mai Salumäe (consultant), Virve and Mati Soode, Silvia Pääbo, Allan Ventsel, Ester Roosileht, Kärt Jänes-Kapp, Johanna Niidu, Helvi Kruusmann, Evelin Kõrvits. The aim of the Organ Foundation is to build a pipe organ at least with 20 stops, two manuals and pedals to be used during church services. A good instrument in a beautiful sanctuary also provides an opportunity for organists to give concerts.
Having consulted experts, the Organ Foundation has looked at prices and made a preliminary selection of a suitable instrument. Our organ would cost approximately 4 million Estonian kroons or about $308,500.
In order to gather the needed amount the Organ Foundation organizes charity concerts, lectures and sales. Musicians perform willingly in our sanctuary which has very good acoustics. So called "Organ birthdays" have been profitable, where the guests give donations into the Foundation instead of birthday presents.
As of September, 2005 about $57,850 or 750,000 EEK have been gathered into the Foundation so far (it is about 882 pipes).
We are thankful to everybody who is supporting the building of a
new organ in Estonia.
